The club had a fantastic 2024 season in the Wakefield & District League, Northern League Tournaments, Matlock Junior Tournaments, Notts League and various friendlies.
Before I go into details, I want to express my thanks firstly to all the coaches, assistant coaches and Team Managers who have volunteered their time to ensure the games could go ahead. Secondly, a huge thank you to all the parents/guardians for supporting your children with travel to and from venues, getting them to training and encouraging their sport. Finally, to the table officials for giving up your time to support the home games.
We would not be able to enter any competitions without any of you giving up your time.
As a club we entered:
- The Wakefield & District U14s mixed, U16s mixed and Women's leagues,
- The Nottinghamshire Men’s league,
- The Northern League U14s mixed and women’s tournaments,
- The Matlock Junior Tournaments for U14s
- Friendlies against local clubs Bingham, Northampton School for boys and Northampton School for girls.
The Wakefield & District League
Dave coached the U14s and was assisted by Lauren and Adam. Seven clubs competed and the team finished joint 3rd but placed 4th on goal difference.
Fina coached the U16s. Eight clubs competed, and the team finished 3rd in the league.
Women were also coached by Fina and assisted by Lauren. Four clubs entered but it was a tough league for our ladies as they were mostly an U18s team playing against teams with very experienced players. However, the girls did not let this bother them. They put up a good fight in each game finishing 4th in the league.

The Notts Mens League
Simon coached the men which was a mixed team of under 18s and seniors. Seven clubs competed and they didn’t come last! They also played in The Knock Out Cup and the Handicap Cup finishing as semi finalists and quarter finalists, respectively.
The Northern League Tournament
David and Lauren coached the U14s who had a brilliant tournament finishing 2nd and showing the other teams just what they were capable off!
Fina and Lauren took the ladies to East Manchester finishing 5th, beating Morley on goal difference!

The Matlock Junior Tournaments
In the spring David and Adam took two U14s teams to Matlock to play 5 a side water polo. Matlock Tournaments are always very chaotic and noisy but good fun. The games are played in quick 6-minute halves. Between them the teams won 5 games and drew 1.
In the Autumn Gareth took another two U14s teams but this time played a boys team and a girls team to give them a different game experience. The girls lost their three games (two very close), the boys won two and lost one.
Finally, our juniors didn’t miss out on pool time and enjoyed some friendly games against Bingham/Cabs and Northampton School. Gaining experience for when they are ready to join the league teams.
Congratulations to every player for some great Water polo last season.
For 2025, the coaches have aligned the training sessions with the competing age groups to allow the teams to train together regularly, making us stronger and better prepared for this year's competitions and challenges!
Best of luck to each and everyone of our teams. This year kicked off with an U16 boys tournament, The Mike Glover Cup, in Manchester. They didn't place but they played some fantastic polo.
Fixtures will start popping up soon so please set availability as soon as possible and commit to playing if you are selected. Please use the What’s App group to arrange car shares to long distance games.
Best wishes.
