Grantham started the first match of the Wakefield and District Season in fine form!

The team was made up of 7 juniors and 4 seniors and Coach Lauren stepped up to play in goal for the match.

The first quarter started well, with Millie opening up the scoresheet and Connie scoring once and Georgie twice. The team lead at the end of Q1 4-1.

Morley settled and started the catch up. Q2 finished 5-4 with Grantham just holding on to the lead.

The momentum carried on rolling in Morley’s favour through Q3 finishing the quarter ahead at 6-7.

Just when it looked like the first win for GWPC Ladies in 3 seasons might be slipping away the teams fitness and grit starting shining through. They were organised in defence, with a high press and conceded no goals.

A couple of early goals in the first 2 minutes of Q4 our ladies nudged ahead and never looked back, netting an impressive 7 goals over the quarter.

A fantastic start to the season! Well done GWPC Ladies.
