The 2025 season began with a fantastic result this weekend as our U14s played at home against Morley.
Having had advance notice that Morley could not raise a full team, we already knew we had the league points in the bag. We also knew that getting a good score could prove vital later in the season, if the league tables came down to goals scored. So, with four of our players being volunteered to Morley, the game began.
The first quarter flew by and before we knew it, Gabriel and Harry had both scored two goals each and we were winning 4:0.
Quarter two saw Gabriel take a penalty shot which was saved by Harrison, who must have had mixed emotions, saving our goals while playing for Morley. He put in a great performance playing in goal against us. However, the Grantham goals then started to roll in, with Gabriel, Seth, Joel, Thomas W and Oscar between them bringing the score to 10 while we only conceded one goal to Morley.
During Quarter three Henry, Oscar and James all scored for Grantham. So did Leo, who was playing for Morley, bringing the goal total to 14:3.
Going into the final quarter, a confident Grantham team kept up the pace with Seth, Oscar, James and Thomas W bringing our total score to 18, while Morley missed a shot at goal in the final seconds of the game. Final score was Grantham 18, Morley 3.
A great start to the 2025 season! Congratulations to Eugene who was playing in his first ever water polo match, and a big thank you once again to Leo, Ella, Daniel and Harrison who were donated to the Morley team for the match and put in a great effort on the day.
